Your College Experience
The college experience is different and unique for everyone. But just what does the college experience mean? How can you take advantage and make the most of your time in college?
To Incoming Freshmen
The college experience is very important to most new incoming freshmen. For the first time in their life they are free from the restraints of their parents, and can do whatever they like. From what I’ve seen, most freshmen screw up their first quarter at college, so make sure to get off to a good start. College is a time where you gain your own independence, but with more independence comes a lot more responsibility. College is also a time where you learn your limits. Learning your limit for how much you can blaze, drink, and study. Pretty much just growing up and becoming more mature. Don’t be lazy, go to lecture, do the homework, and make friends.
My Personal College Experience
To me the college experience is experiencing everything college life has to offer. That means going out, meeting new people, joining clubs and a fraternity/sorority, all night cramming sessions, as well as all night gaming sessions. But most importantly the college experience is experimenting and experiencing new things. To me college is about making mistakes, because once you’re an adult you can’t be making those same mistakes. So my advice is that it is okay to make mistakes as long as you learn from them. Or if you’re smarter than me just learn from other peoples mistakes so you don’t make the same ones. Which you probably are, since you are here on this site learning from my mistakes =P
I think I’ve made just about every mistake possible in college. Some examples are almost getting kicked out of the dorms, my major and even college (in that order on separate occasions), getting a DUI, and living with $0 for a month. But I’ve learned a lot through the process of fixing my mistakes. I can tell you how to get back into college if you’re kicked out, how to out of a DUI, and how to live without money (all articles in the future haha). Anyways hopefully you won’t ever get into the same situations as me, but feel free to post questions on the forums or e-mail me if you have any questions.

When advisors and parents lecture about college grades, they’re right. Those grades follow you everywhere when you leave – assuming you continue to grad school. If you’re looking at B-School, Law, or Med School, it’s imperative you get awesome grades.
But the people who didn’t party their asses off in college FAILED AT LIFE.
Seriously, get the grades but rage like there’s no tomorrow. Screw high school…that sucked. Even if you thought it was fun, you’re wrong. Wait until you drain a keg, nail two coeds at the same time, take an embarrassing photo, and finish the night doing something unhealthy and probably illegal. THAT’S an experience you won’t want to miss.
What worked for me:
Study like a nerd Monday through Thursday.
Study like crazy Sunday afternoon to prepare for Monday.
The rest of the time get buck wild.
Buck-effing-wild.
You probably won’t die, you’ll still get into a good grad school, and college will be as awesome as it’s supposed to be.
One lesson I should add:
If you’re going to attend class stoned, you can do it the very first day, but they’re probably going to give you something gnarly right up front to get your respect. After about 3 weeks, you can go stoned all the time except for mids and finals. Don’t be stoned for them…college mids and finals are killer.
Taking notes while stoned is easy. If you need to, use a digital recorder and you won’t miss a word.
